Darren Mathew Wayne Sheldon serves as Chief Inspector at Plane Travel, LLC, bringing over nine years of general aviation experience and more than three years supporting Part 135 operations to ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and airworthiness. As an FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician since September 2024, Darren excels in domestic and international AOG (Aircraft on Ground) field service, powerplant diagnostics, piston engine rebuilds, airframe inspections, hydraulic systems troubleshooting, sheet metal and structural repairs, aircraft painting, interior work, and Part 135 maintenance operations. In his current role since December 2025, Darren oversees the inspection system in accordance with 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, and 135, as well as FAA-approved manuals. He ensures all maintenance, preventive actions, and alterations are thoroughly inspected, documented, and released to service in compliance with regulations and manufacturer data; verifies aircraft airworthiness prior to return to service; reviews and approves records, logbook entries, and FAA Form 337s for accuracy and completeness; oversees corrective actions for discrepancies; manages technical data control including current revisions of manuals, bulletins, and instructions; and enforces proper tool control, calibration, and availability. Previously, as Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Plane Travel from August 2022 to November 2025, he supported charter operations by leading scheduled, unscheduled, and AOG events, performing powerplant diagnostics and repairs, conducting fleet inspections, and creating maintenance forms, checklists, and basic Excel trackers.
Darren's hands-on expertise spans a wide range of aircraft, including the Citation 501SP, King Air series, Cessna 100/200/300/400 series, Beechcraft models, Piper PA-31 series, and general aviation piston aircraft. Earlier in his career, at Jet-Techs PMP since 2024, he led AOG field maintenance and resolved airframe, powerplant, and hydraulic issues. From 2017 to 2022 at Keith Aero, he performed general maintenance, inspections, repairs, piston engine rebuilds, major powerplant work, sheet metal repairs, painting, and interior refurbishment. A high school graduate who completed an FAA-approved A&P training program in September 2024, Darren is fluent in English and proficient in tools like Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks for maintenance tracking.
